MNA assures to take up marginalized communities’ issues in National Assembly

Sialkot, July 11, 2021: In a bid to advance political and electoral participation of persons with disabilities (PWDs), transgender people and women in Sialkot region, TDEA’s regional mentor along with Coalition for Inclusive Pakistan’s (CIP) representatives met with Ms Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, a Member of the National Assembly belonging to Pakistan Muslim league Nawaz (PML-N). The objective of the meeting was to share the draft resolution with the legislator, and garner her support to publish province- and district-wise statistics of PWDs, women, and transgender people in six population census to ensure adequate allocation of the budget for the welfare of these marginalized groups. Ms Iftikhar was also requested to advocate at relevant party forums for establishing PWDs and transgender wings within the PML-N. Ms Iftikhar applauded the efforts of CIP, and assured to discuss the matter with PML-N’s senior leadership. She also extended her support in submitting the resolution in the National Assembly.
